'Single Stones' test pressings from Japan | November 2012
In November 1982, London Japan issued a 15 singles box set entitled the 'Single Stones'* collection, reissuing the whole UK singles catalogue, chronologically, up to 'Honky Tonk Women' [misspelled 'Honky Tonk Woman', as a small paper note apologized and was added to the set].
The box set contained a 36-pages booklet, with a custom red sticker stuck on front.
A very scarce promo white label issue of it exists and has been documented before but recently was unearthed the 15 test pressings of the whole set, unseen before. Contrarily to the stock and promo sets, all the singles were housed into generic London company sleeves. Labels are white with matrix numbers stamped on each side, A-side with an extra 'promo' stamp.
*The UK [and Spain] also issued these series at the time, with the same artwork, but limited it to 12 singles only and remixed all couplings.
Estimated value : 750 €
