The Rolling Stones - Miss You jukebox strip • France discography: The RSR - EMI years [1978-1984]'Miss You' [2C 008-61201] was a huge hit worldwide and a 12" maxi version was released in France on red vinyl. This single is very common of course, the 12" red vinyl version a bit less, but any other color on 12" is very scarce [100 copies only of a promo-only wooden box containing 10 different colors are supposed to have been made for the launch party of this single].

The Rolling Stones - Miss You • France discography: The RSR - EMI years [1978-1984]The next single 'Respectable' [2C 008-61270] was available on two types of labels as the usual yellow paper ones were abandonned for a new silver design, plastic moulded - the silver labels version is quite rare for this particular single only.

For some reason, the 'Emotional Rescue' [2C 008-63974] picture sleeve is unique to France - the 'bandaged man' artwork only being used abroad for a promo-only version of a Japanese single or other formats (eg stickers, sheet music, poster, etc). No maxi-single of the song were made on 12" this time but a rare promo-only pressing including both short and long versions was intended for clubs.

A somewhat unreal fluorescent orange vinyl version [test for clubs?] of the record was made, with the same labels as the stock copy, but blue. The Rolling Stones - Emotional Rescue - orange vinyl issue • France discography: The RSR - EMI years [1978-1984]An obscure rarity, maybe one-of-a-kind.

'She's So Cold' [2C 008-64081] did not do very well, unlike 'Start Me Up' [2C 008-64545] which was issued with two slightly different picture covers - see lettering and color differences.

In 1982, 'Angie' / 'Silver Train' [2C 008-64734] was reissued within the 'Dance For Ever' series both in France and Portugal, housed in a cheap revamp of the original artwork.

'Going To A Gogo' [2C 008-64820], the opening live track from the 'Still Life' album, was issued at the time the band was touring in Europe, followed by 'Time Is On My Side' [2C 008-64830] recorded live in Hampton, Virginia, December 18, 1981. This latter was a poor seller and therefore become popular among collectors.

Promo copies from that period were merely stock copies with an extra generic gold sticker on front and for this reason should not make entries here.

Note that the 2009' remastered version of 'Start Me Up' was exclusively released in France on a one-sided 7" in 2023 by Virgin France Music, distributed in Fnac stores [yet the record was actually pressed in Czech Republic].

Perhaps the most interesting collectors item from this period was a non-EMI release. In June 1983, the issue #11 of the French magazine 'Vinyl' distributes a transparent 7" flexi-disc called "Le Film" [the flexi is made in England - Lyntone LYN 13214] to promote the 'Let's Spend The Night Together' movie.

Inside the pages of this free mag was a DIY picture sleeve to be cut and fold. The 1-sided record turning at 33⅓ rpm features an amused Mick Jagger speaking in French over a Rolling Stones medley. The flexi also exists in orange [rarer], distributed with a promo 40-pages A4-sized book for the press.

The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar - 1984 • France discography: The RSR - EMI years [1978-1984]The Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar - 1984 • France discography: The RSR - EMI years [1978-1984] Julien Temple's 'She Was Hot' [2000427] video was popular in France and did well in compared to the previous single 'Undercover (Of The Night)' [1654427]. The 7" also included the bluesy 'I Think I'm Going Mad', a non-album and then unreleased track.

At the same period, the 'Too Much Blood' video clip was also often broadcasted but the track was only released as a 12" maxi-single in the US.

The 'Brown Sugar' / 'Bitch' [2002587] single reissue supposed to support the 'Rewind 71-84' compilation album was not available for a long time in stores and remains a nice collector's item. At least, its artwork is nice enough to be noticed among these years of bad taste.
