Spain Being 'Satisfied' in Spain | July 2014

The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction - Spanish EP, 1965The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction - Spanish EP, 1965 The Rolling Stones - Satisfaction - Spanish EP, 1965Here is a little story around the release of Satisfaction in Spain inspired by the recent finding on an ultimate spelling error.

In 1965, Luis was running a record store in Barcelona, while Mario worked for Columbia Records who was pressing for Decca.
As in many countries, 'Satisfaction' [Decca SDGE 81028] was released in a rush; in Spain, it bears the same B-side as the previous EP 'You Can't Catch Me' [Decca SDGE 80965], sporting 'Off the Hook' and 'Little Red Rooster'.
Despite its unique picture cover made out of 5 Keith Richards shaped visages, this EP is known as the most common of all Stones EPs in Spain but wait...

M. - Did you get the new EP by the Stones?

L. - 'Satisfaction'? Yes. Nice cover but why two blue heads on front? Any signification there?

M. - Oh, sorry, printer messed up! One should be green. I send you new prints.

A week later :

M. - Did you get the corrected covers?

L. - I did, thanks. But it looks like your printer had a new 'assis tant'! No big deal though. By the way, thanks for the promo white labels copies.

M. - How come... I'll have him to correct this for the next run, sorry again. I do not know what happened.

Later :

M. - Trusting everything's fine, Luis...

L. - Covers are OK now, yes, but since you ask, a customer noticed that labels credited 'Impac Sound' for production instead of 'Impact Sound'.

M. - Picky, but hey... I will have this corrected for the next batch. The song is such a hit anyway...

Later:

L. - Mario, just for your info, 'Impact Sound' is OK now [although I had a copy in hand with 'Impac' on one side still], but guess what, 'Little Reed Rooster' is misspelled on the flip !

M. - Damn, they probably hire temp staff there this summer! Why changing something correct? OK, we'll fix it, sorry again!

Later:

L. - Your printer apparently could not trash the extra 'E', I now have a 'Little Red Rooester' !

M. - You know what? Another shop told me they received copies with labels misspelling 'Satifaction'. When it's time for a reissue with new labels, I'll double check everything.

A year later:

L. - M.? Can you believe the reissue reads 'Impac Sound' again?

The under assistant - Sorry Sir, but M. does not work here anymore.
