Begun in early in 1993, 'You Got Me Rocking' was initially a blues number; bootlegs have Jagger and Richards working the song as a slower, blues flavored ramble, with Jagger shouting the hook "you got me rocking". Changed to a straight forward rocker in the vein of 'Start Me Up', the song quickly evolved into a powerful rock single as Richards made the transition from piano to guitar. Recording on the track lasted from mid-summer, 1993, to early winter of the same year, where final touches were put on.
The song was released as a UK-only single in September 1994 as the second single from the album 'Voodoo Lounge', and peaked at #23.
The B-side is the renowned though little-known non-album track 'Jump On Top Of Me' which featured on the soundtrack of Robert Altman's 'Prêt-à-Porter'.
'You Got Me Rocking' is one of the band's most enduring live songs, as its promo video directed by Jim Gable witnesses.
The UK version is a numbered limited edition of 7,000. France issued this single on 7" for promo purposes only in titled sleeve [1,000 made].
The song was also released on 12" and CDS including various mixes in the US [promo] and Japan [3" CDS], with artwork variations.
A live version of 'You Got Me Rocking' recorded at the Olympia, Paris, on July 3rd, 1995, was exclusively released on 7" in December 2023 in France with
a special issue of Rolling Stone magazine
as the flip from 'Like A Rolling Stone', it exists on white, orange, and black vinyl and was distributed via Fnac stores.
7 editions worldwide include 'You Got Me Rocking' on the 7" format.

And feelin' no pain
Sure got pains in my head
My legs feel limp
Don't want to hear no noise,
Don't want to hear you cuss
I need peace of mind,
Don't you make no fuss
Jump on top of me baby [x2]
Jump on top of me girl
Give it to me nice and slow
Well there's too much talkin'
'bout this an' that
And the window needs fixin'
Better feed the cat
We're fresh out of beer
Could you answer the phone
Well you call this bisque
Well I'm leavin' home
Jump on top of me baby [x2]
Jump on top of me girl
Give it to me nice and slow
Alright
Well jump on top of me baby [x2]
Get on top of me girl
Everybody lay down low
When we first met
We were both so young
We didn't give a damn
How the clock would run
The time is right
To make some fool of you
'cause it's gettin' late
What would you like to do
Jump on top of me baby
Get on top of me baby
Jump on top of me girl
Give it to me nice and slow
Alright
Jump on top of me baby [x2]
Jump on top of me girl
And give it to me nice and slow
Alright
Jump on top of me baby [x2]
Jump on top of me girl
Everybody lay down low
Alright
Jump on top of me baby [x2]
On top of me girl
Everybody lay down low
I can't stand it
When the sun comes up
Gonna need some comfort
'Cause I can't stand up
Shut the blinds
I'm gonna shut the shades
And tell the neighbors
We'll be gone for days
Jump on top of me baby [x2]
Jump on top of me girl
Give it to me nice and slow
Alright

I was a butcher cutting up meat
My hands were bloody, I'm dying on my feet
I was a surgeon 'til I started to shakeI was falling but you put on the breaks
Hey hey
You've got me rocking now
I was a pitcher down in a slump
I was a fighter taken for a sucker punch
I'm feeling bad, guess I lost my spring
I was the boxer who can't get in the ring
Hey hey
There ain't no stopping me
All right
Oh yeah
I was a hooker losing her looks
I was a writer, can't write another book
I was all dried up, dying to get wet
I was a tycoon drowning in debt
I said...
That's all right
Come on
Don't, don't you stop me
Yeah
