As Keith Richards puts it out the day of its release on the internet: “We cut this track well over a year ago in L.A. for part of a new album, an on-going thing, and then the shit hit the fan. Mick and I decided this one really needed to go to work now.”
'Living In A Ghost Town', penned by Jagger & Richards, was released on the band's Youtube channel a few days after the band performed 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' during the event One World - Together at Home to celebrate COVID-19 workers on April 18, 2020.
The track was recorded in early 2019 at British Grove Studios, London, and Henson Studios, LA, USA, up to Mick Jagger's home studio in France in April 2020.
If the internet release date was April 23, 2020, the single release on 1-sided orange and purple vinyl 10"s and CDS was scheduled for June 26, 2020, due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Reflecting life during the coronavirus lockdown, the track whom the video mainly shows the deserted streets of some of the world's biggest cities, became number 1 on iTunes a day after its release.
