The Belgian 7" discography is somewhat confusing
for it includes many cross-references with France,
Holland and even the US.
Apart from the very first single 'I Wanna Be Your Man', all releases
came into picture sleeves - hard covers for EPs, fold-out paper covers
for most singles, then standard paper PS.
Records all have a large center
hole.
Due to the proximity to France which was very active within the Decca period, a lot of Belgian singles from the Golden Hit Parade series,
and all but one from the Âge d'Or series, were to be found within the French picture sleeves of the same catalogue numbers.
The Decca years [1964-1971]
- EPs : all EPs including hybrids [French PS w/ a Belgian record].
- Singles : originals - and latest issues / reissues out of series.
- The 'Golden Hit-Parade' series : reissues of the late 60's and very early 70's - some hybrids.
- The 'Âge d'Or' series : 25 volumes issued between 1975 and 1977 [all hybrids, but one].
The RSR / Warner years [1971-1977]
The RSR / EMI years [1978-1984]
During the 70's, only a few 100% Belgian releases on Rolling Stones Records and EMI were distributed. Belgian 'art sleeves' were made for 'Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo' [RS 19109] in 1973 and 'Emotional Rescue' [RS 20001] in 1980, both of which hosting US imports.
From 1981 onwards, Dutch and French pressings were imported on the Belgian market.
