At Sky Ranch Records in France in 1992, I had the luck to work on the reissue of the 'Different Strokes for Different Folks' album - thanks Philippe LeBras - which led me to dig into Don Covay's discography.
Don's excellent songwriting skills have been proved by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Solomon Burke, Steppenwolf, Bobby Womack, Wilson Pickett, The Small Faces, to name a few, and his voice's influence on Mick Jagger's is more than obvious, but I always felt Don Covay was one of he most under-rated soul artist. He sings brilliantly, and probably has more fun and creativity than most of his pairs.
I have built these few pages for him and for the curious souls which I hope can stop by and discover this music and the man behind.
I do not own every record listed on these pages and do not provide mp3 files nor burn any CDR. If you like Don's music, just buy his official stuff, all his albums are currently available on CD.
